This simple and short tutorial tries to show you, especially forester, how to create 3D trees from point. Remember, this is a cosmetic tool and for display purpose only.
1. Download the Create_Trees_from_Points_zip extension
2. Install the extension. Just point the customization to downloaded dll file. If you don’t know how to do, just left me a message/comment and ask how to install this kind of extension.
3. Load a point layer which represents tress 2D positions.
4. Run the extensions
5. Fill some parameters.
The form above is the parameter of all trees. Again, this tool is for cosmetic/display only. The parameters are addressed into all trees. If you don’t want to know how to read the form above, left me comments.
6. Execute the extension by Clicking on Start.
7. Open ArcScene
8. Load Exported trees file
9. Manage its properties > Set the Base Height into [BASE_HT]
10. Manage its properties > Set the Extrusion into [EXTRUSION]
[BASE_HT] AND [EXTRUSION] are generated from Create Trees from Points extension.
