Migrating to ArcGIS 10 does not always as smooth as we tough. We need time to migrate completely which depends on resources we have. Let say 1 year or 2. Therefore, we often need to open our MXD version 10 by our old ArcMap version 9.3. This tutorial shows an easy step to convert our MXD from version 10 into earlier one.
1. Open MXD Project in ArcMap
2. Click on File menu > Save A Copy
3. Define the folder / location where we will store new MXD
4. Type our MXD name
5. Choose Save as type
On the example above, we select ArcMap version 9.3
6. Click Save
Now we have MXD in previous format which can be opened by ArcMap version 9.3 or higher.
