ArcGIS: Mosaic Borneo Island’s SRTM Data

Mosaic is one common operation in GIS raster analysis in order to combine adjacent raster layers. This tutorial shows how to mosaic Borneo Island’s SRTM data using ArcGIS 10. Data raster used in this tutorial are SRTM version 4.1 from CGIAR. Please visit http://www.gistutorial.net/en/resources/download-data-srtm-wilayah-indonesia.html. Here are the steps.

1. Download the SRTM data of Borneo Island sheets 5812, 5813, 5912, 5913, 6011, 6012, dan 6013.
2. Extract the file until we get the ASCII format as follow.

   

    

3. Open ArcMap
4. Add all SRTM layer we have downloaded into ArcMap.

   

    

5. The pyramid window may pup you up. You can select YES or NO. We strongly suggest you to select YES to minimize your CPU temperature.
