We can download many images data from EarthExplorer, WIST or DEMEX. They are NASA and USGS portals. In this post we will try to download ASTER GDEM Version 2 from a relatively new portal called Reverb-Echo from USGS. In my opinion, to download ASTER GDEM data in a simply way is using DEMEX. However, at the moment I am writing this, we can not download in quite large coverage due to size limitation. If we want to download broader coverage, it is probably better using Reverb-Echo portal as shown in this post.
Find further information about ASTER GDEM Version 2 from http://www.gdem.aster.ersdac.or.jp/
1. Open http://reverb.echo.nasa.gov
2. Explore the GoogleMap with Zoom and Pan into our Area of Interest.

3. Create AOI. Choose the Bounding box located at the top-left corner of the Google Map.
